Bryn-Meadows-Eating-Disorders-Victoria

Hello, my name is Bryn Meadows. I am a counsellor in Victoria BC. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are struggling with challenges such as:

  • low self-esteem

  • addiction/ substance use disorders

  • grief and loss

  • shame

  • relationship struggles

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • eating disorders

  • body-image

  • perfectionism

I have over 20 years of experience working in mental health and addiction and substance use treatment as a practitioner, program developer, educator, mentor, and manager. Over the years I have worked in Europe, the US and across Canada alongside leading specialists in the treatment of eating and addiction disorders and issues related to our struggles with shame, perfectionism, self-worth and vulnerability. This being said, I believe the greatest source of my knowledge and understanding has come through working closely with my clients and their families over the years.

I have been told, and I'd like to believe, that I am charming, authentic and well read. My clients often say they appreciate my ability to explain complex concepts in ways that make sense. Some people think that I am a little weird, but in a good way. I enjoy reading, painting, gardening and I love animals.

I practice a compassionate, humanistic and person-centered approach in my work. I respect that every individual is unique and therefore will have their own unique challenges, gifts and perspectives that they bring to our work together in counselling.

I am also a passionate and dynamic educator, and proud to be a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator-Clinician, facilitating workshops based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown.

I regularly give talks in schools, workplaces and have been a contributing guest on local radio stations as well as several episodes of A&E's television program Intervention.

I also developed and managed the Disordered Eating Program at Cedars at Cobble Hill between 2011 and 2016.

Alongside my private practice, I currently act as a consultant and educator for several private and non-profit treatment facilities and am a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator.
